The mission of the American Cancer Society is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. As we all know, when cancer strikes, it hits from all sides. That’s why we’re committed to attacking cancer from every angle. With more than 100 years of experience and leadership, we are a global force, fighting all cancers on all fronts, across the US and around the globe.
Resources allocated to program services (totaling 78% of American Cancer Society resources) include:
- $147 million invested in cancer research (support to fund and conduct research into better ways to prevent, detect, and treat cancer, how to improve the quality of life for people living with cancer, and to advocate for laws and policies that help further cancer research)
- $269 million invested in patient support (programs to assist cancer patients and their families, easing the burden of cancer)
- $104 million invested in prevention information and education (programs that provide the public and health professionals with information and education to prevent cancer occurrence or to reduce the risk of developing cancer)
- $63 million invested in detection and treatment (programs that are directed at finding cancer before it is clinically apparent and that provide information and education about cancer treatments for a cure, recurrence, symptom management, and pain control)
Resources allocated to supporting services (totaling 22% of Society resources) include:
- $36 million used to fund management and general expenses (executive, financial, and administrative services needed to direct the efforts of the American Cancer Society)
- $134 million spent on fundraising expenses (securing charitable financial support for the Society’s programs and services)

As we enter April, Spring fills the air and anticipation of upcoming Summer vacations are in our thoughts. April is known for many things, Spring showers, Tax Day, Easter but did you know that April is also an important month for children with autism?
April is World Autism Month. ETV Software’s Computer Repair in Tyler is partnering with the Treatment & Learning Center to help raise awareness and funds for the important work they do, right here in Tyler. Founded in 2009, The Treatment and Learning Center for Children with Autism (TLC) is the only full time, center-based treatment facility in East Texas, accepting children from 18 months to 21 years of age.
“At the Treatment and Learning Center (TLC), we are dedicated to piecing our community together by helping children, teens and adults with autism and other disabilities learn the skills they need to better interact with their families, friends, teachers, and caregivers. TLC utilizes Intensive Behavioral Intervention to help improve skills including social, play, language, communication, daily living, safety, vocational and academic skills while also reducing challenging or impeding behaviors.” Whitney Sherman, M. Windows 7 - No Support - No Security
Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. This 10-year period has now ended, and Microsoft has discontinued Windows 7 support so that we can focus our investment on supporting newer technologies and great new experiences. The specific end of support day for Windows 7 was January 14, 2020. Technical assistance and software updates from Windows Update that help protect your PC are no longer available for the product. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10 to avoid a situation where you need service or support that is no longer available.
If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but it will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your PC will continue to start and run, but will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft.
